Victor is Traveling!

“Illusions of Victor” is traveling and we couldn’t be happier for CFMQG member Linda @flourishingpalms

This original design was inspired by the works of Victor Vasarely and was part of the CFMQG challenge in January 2020 where chapter members could pick one of several Mid Century Modern Artists and their works to create a quilt. The challenge was due in April 2020.

“Illusions of Victor”

Linda’s inspiration was Victor Vasarely, specifically “Hommage a l’Hexagon” as seen here. She quilted VV (working title) on her Bernina with 28 wt Aurifil and the batting is Wool Quilter’s Dream. It finished at 48 by 64 1/2. And she used fabric in her stash to create the pieced back. Linda liked the depth and dimension within Vasarely’s work and hoped to carry it into her quilt.

Congratulations Linda on having “Illusions of Victor” selected for the MQG Showcase at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, October 28-31, 2021. This becomes an automatic entry into Quilt Con 2022 in Phoenix, February 16-20, 2022. We cannot wait to see it in Phoenix!

  1. Thank you for the lovely tribute! I am SO excited about having this quilt displayed in Houston and at QuiltCon. This is a first for me, and you can be sure I’m not taking this lightly. May I just add, “Wahoo!” 🙂
