Our Central Florida MQG program team of Jane, Beth and Rosemary, has been working hard to come up with programming through the end of 2021.
We’re happy that members are stepping up to present topics that will surely be of interest to everyone. If you’d like to suggest a topic for a future CFMQG program – something you’d like to learn about, or if you would like to present a program yourself, please shoot us an email!
Saturday, June 12 Program
Understanding and Incorporating Notan Design Into Modern Quilting is the topic that Beth will explain and share.
Notan, a Japanese term that literally means “light dark harmony,” explores different arrangements of light and dark elements without the distraction of other elements like color, texture and finer details.

Beth will use a video, instruction, and a hands-on exercise to help everyone understand this design technique.
Members are invited to bring two-color quilts to the meeting, to discuss notan design characteristics.
To participate in the hands-on exercise, Beth asks you to bring the following supplies:
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Paper scissors or/and exacto knife and cutting mat
- Glue stick
- Tweezers are very helpful
- Hand wipes for sticky fingers
- Print this document to bring to the meeting
Also:
- wear your nametag
- bring Show and Tell with a completed Show and Tell form for each item
Saturday, July 10 Program
Transparency in Quilts will be led by Jane and Karen E.
Members will learn what transparency all about, and in a hands-on exercise learn how to incorporate it into a quilt design. This example of transparency is Triangle Transparency by Hyacinth Quilt Designs.

Members, please bring:
- any quilts you have that use transparency as a design element
- colored pencils
Also:
- wear your nametag
- bring Show and Tell with a completed Show and Tell form for each item
Note that future meetings – indefinitely – will be at a new location.

- Location: New Life Christian Church, 4701 East County Road 462, Wildwood, Florida
- Date: Saturday, June 12
- Time: 10 am to noon

If you’re ever wondering about an upcoming meeting – like what’s happening, or where we’re meeting, or what time we’re starting – be sure to check our Central Florida MQG Google calendar. It’s the first place that known information is shared.
You can also get to the calendar from our http://www.CentralFloridaMQG.wordpress.com home page.

Great post, Linda. Keeps everyone up to date.
