February 14 Meeting

Twenty-eight members and two visitors attended the Saturday, February 14 meeting at New Life Christian Church.

Led by Co-President Lynette, our business meeting covered the following topics:

  • Elections will be held at our March 14 meeting to elect and re-elect the positions of:
    • Vice President – Anne G and Sharon J
    • Workshop Chair – Jane G
    • Media Coordinator – Courtney S
  • Treasurer Sandi K reported that our 2025 actvities were successfully audited by two members, and we’re going into 2026 with a balanced budget.
  • Our next Saturday Sew-In is February 28, from 9:30 AM to 4:45 PM at Pinella Public Library. The Sew and Learn topic is “Favorite Scissors.”
    • Also, during the Sew-In, from 2:30 to 4:30 PM, is a Program and Workshop planning meeting. Everyone is welcome to join the discussion. Refer to our recent survey results HERE, and come prepared to offer at least one program or workshop suggestion along with details about it.
  • Retreat Coordinator Patti R shared information about our upcoming retreat to Luther Springs, Hawthorne, Florida. Registration information will be in the Sunday, March 8 newsletter, with monies accepted beginning at the Saturday, March 14 meeting.
    • Looking ahead, Patti is asking for feedback about a possible “Sleep at Home” retreat November 5 through 7. Do those dates work for you?
  • Mel T reported that quilts CFMQG members donated to the Wildwood Police Department were gratefully accepted. When parents request a car seat, one of our quilts is being given to them as well.
  • Our March 14 meeting will include two presentations: 1) Creative Thinking by Co-President Lynette K, looking at segments by quilters Ginny Robinson, Rossi Hutchinson, Anne Sullivan, and Elaine Bergman who share modern quilts inspired by other crafts, improv quilts using a design wall and strip piecing, and how to make Franken-batting; and 2) Pantone Color of the Year by Shloe K.,
