From 9:30 AM to 4 PM, quilt makers from Central Florida MQG met at our newest location for a monthly Sew-In – the Pinellas Public Library on Powell Road, in Wildwood/The Villages.
When we arrived, the room looked like this.

With help from a few early-arrivers, tables were rolled into positions with easy access to electrical outlets, and chairs moved for better chat-a-bility.

Sixteen members came to sew, or stopped in for a while to say hello and visit with one another. This is always one of the best ways to get to know each other. We’re always happy to see each other and share what we’re working on, with good advice – if desired – at-the-ready.

Our “Sew and Learn” topic for January followed the theme of our January meeting – our “Quilt Legacy.” Discussion was about how quilt makers label their quilts, track and document their quilts (Pinterest; recording quilt recipient names, and awards for each), and quiltmaking supplies (including fabric).
Beth led our conversation, sharing with everyone how she documents her quilts in six large three-ring binders, like the one in front of her, in the photo.

Everyone left the table with one or several new ideas about what and how to document their quiltmaking.
February 14 Central Florida MQG Meeting
At the February 14 Central Florida MQG meeting, time will be set aside for members to share how they’ve begun to make plans – document and record – the someday-dispersement of their quilts, sewing machine(s), fabric stash, notions, and the like. Be ready to share!
Next Saturday Sew-In, February 28
Pack your supplies and come to the February 28 Sew-In. (It’s golf cart assessable for members in The Villages!) Our “Sew and Learn” topic (beginning at 12:30 PM) is Favorite Scissors. Bring yours, and be ready to share why you like them.
Future Sew-In dates, times, location and “Sew and Learn” topics are HERE.
