January Meeting

Forty members of the Central Florida Modern Quilt Guild met on Saturday, January 13, along with two visitors.

Vice President Linda H. highlighted MQG’s focus for the quarter, Modern Traditionalism. Videos are available online in the MQG Resource Library. Also, Linda is keeping a list of those attending QuiltCon in Raleigh in February, so please let her know if you intend to go and have not already added your name to the list. QuiltCon is offering a livestream pass to view all 28 lectures for $265 this year, so if you’re not attending in person, you might consider this option!

Treasurer Ardie W provided a report. Membership dues have been paid to the MQG, and expected upcoming expenses include insurance for retreat and rental fees for our P.O. Box and the Oxford Community Center. Ardie also provided our expected updated balance of funds.

President Karen E explained what our dues are used for and reminded everyone that our membership provides us access to the numerous resources in the MQG Resource Library.

Media Coordinator Courtney S announced that most members now have a photo included as part of our membership directory. If you haven’t had your photo taken, please consider having one taken at the next meeting you attend! Also, make sure to fill out a Show and Tell form if you bring a project to share. This helps make sure that we are able to provide correct details about you and your quilt.

Signups opened for Ardie W’s Personal Item Carry-On Bag workshop on March 23. The fee is $20 and a supply list can be found linked to the CFMQG calendar. The bag fits most airlines’ under-seat size requirements. Ardie has some hardware and strapping available for purchase.
