January 8 – New Year – Next Meeting!

Happy New Year! It’s time to shake things up, move things out of your way and get back to creative time with you and your sewing machine. The CFMQG is off and running on Saturday, January 8 at 10 AM with our regular monthly meeting. Bring your Show and Tell (and the Show and Tell FORM). Bring a friend, everyone is Welcome!

Beth @blue_dragonfly5 will be presenting “QUILT DESIGN INSPIRED BY ARCHITECTURE”

Beth always challenges our brain and gets us thinking differently at how we look at the world and then encourages us to apply it to quilting. Who knows what neuron this might engage? Needless to say, you won’t want to miss it as it also includes the first of 2022 challenges.

In addition to the presentation, there will be the regular Show and Tell of CFMQG Modern Makes and since we haven’t seen anything since November, there should be plenty of quilts to see and become inspired by. Please fill out the Show and Tell form, come early for photos and be prepared to share your story.

Cost to members will be $35 and the class is limited to 20 participants. You will be learning via ZOOM at home. Thus no packing up of equipment, everything is at your fingertips BUT you need access to either a mobile device, laptop, tablet or computer with Zoom capability.

This class is technique and design-based, approaching your paper-pieced block designs with an improvisational outlook.  You will design and sew your own block and work on a quilt layout using alternative-grid work, negative space, and other elements of modern design.  This class is for ALL levels of quilting.  It is for those who are experienced at modern quilting, as well as those who are brand new. The book is not required for the workshop, however you may find yourself purchasing it afterwards to increase your proficiency with the technique.
