October 9th Meeting

Oh my! The monthly meeting is just around the corner and the topic will be “The Positive Side of Negative” The meeting begins at 10 AM on Saturday, October 9th, at the New Life Christian Church Members and guests are asked to arrive early for Show and Tell Photos and to visit prior to the meeting.

Individuals that have created quilts or wall hangings where the NEGATIVE SPACE is key to the overall design of the quilt/wall hanging are encouraged to bring no more than two for sharing during the discussion. Please complete the Show and Tell form for this part of the meeting.

Show and Tell!
Central Florida Modern Quilt Guild (CFMQG) emphasizes education in their meetings and during Show and Tell. The Show and Tell form identifies modern aesthetics associated within the world of Modern quilting and assists creators in identifying where their quilt falls into the sphere of Modern. Please complete the form for Show and Tell and be prepared to tell our membership the details about your quilt. Since we are all learning as we go, if you have questions, please ask. If you are uncertain if your quilt falls into Modern we will discuss it as a group. We are limiting Show and Tell to two quilts or wall hangings per meeting. If there is a time you wish to show more than two, you will need to contact our president Karen E.

A gentle reminder, we are a Modern Guild and we are asking that you refrain from sharing Traditional quilts during our limited meeting time.

Anyone who is participating in the Finger Paints Quilt Along, you know who you are, please bring your tops to the meeting on Saturday if they are sewn together. It will be exciting to see the variety of color ways as everyone painted with fabric using their own choices.

Jacksonville Modern Quilt Guild has invited our members to a virtual workshop if you are interested.  The cost is $22 for the zoom workshop, and you must contact them directly.  You may look up more information about the workshop at Brenda’s listed webpage, or at Jacksonville MQG’s listed wordpress blog.   

There are still some openings for the retreat and if you are interested, you can sign up on Saturday. The retreat will begin November 5th and information may be found in a previous blog.
